Gua sha uses a smooth-edged tool to stroke or scrape the skin. Traditional body gua sha differs from gentle facial techniques.

Disclose blood thinners, pregnancy, diabetes, circulation problems and skin conditions. Do not treat broken, inflamed or sunburned skin.
Ask for skin-care instructions and allow irritated areas to recover. Tell your practitioner about persistent discomfort.
Soreness, bruising and skin discoloration can occur, especially with excessive pressure. Report pain during treatment.
Discuss recovery and your response before repeating treatment. More scraping is not automatically better.
