Lymphatic drainage uses light, deliberate movements to help move lymph fluid. It is different from deep-pressure muscle massage.

Discuss the cause of swelling and any surgery. Disclose blood clots, infection, fever, heart disease or kidney failure before treatment.
Continue medically prescribed compression and other care. Report nausea, headache, fatigue or worsening symptoms to your provider.
Some people feel tired or nauseated. Certain conditions make drainage unsuitable; unexplained swelling needs medical assessment.
A medical care plan determines treatment for lymphedema. General wellness visits should be reviewed according to response.
